DOG TRAINERS + BEHAVIORISTS

ELIJAH WEISS | THE WORKING WALK | SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, ca

ELIJAH has been working professionally with dogs for 14 years.  He started in the shelter world at the Oregon Humane Society performing basic duties such as mucking out kennels, administering medications, vaccines and microchips as well as doing nail trims and basic grooming.  Later he moved to temperament testing of incoming dogs, doing adoption counseling, health screenings and behavior work.

When he moved to the Bay Area in 2004, he started working in the dog daycare environment, managing large groups of dogs, supervising behavior, observing subtleties of dog language and learning how and when to intervene and redirect.  He focused on keeping energy calm and managing appropriate play amongst the many different type and sizes of dogs attending the facility (up to 120 dogs at any given time).  He also managed and trained dog handling staff, did one on one basic obedience training with client dogs and did advanced obedience with his own dogs under the direction of head trainer Sarah Freeman.

He eventually  left the daycare format because he saw the need of many great dogs who failed the temperament test or were expelled from daycare because they needed more structure and behavior work than that particular setting could provide.

WILDEBEEST is an independent pet & lifestyle company from San Francisco, California. They're passionate about making original products with considerate functions & fresh aesthetics. Wildebeest's inspirations come from small details that enrich lives in big ways: good design, memorable stories, and epic adventures with the beloved beests we call pets. Today we continue on with a unique perspective & spirit to explore, bringing quality products that you & your pets will love using everyday.

Wildebeest is designers / pet lovers. New & original ideas are Wildebeest's specialty, and these ideas often come from the first-hand experience of being a pet parent. These ideas get translated into product designs as Jane takes the time to research, develop, test and refine at the Wildebeest Lab. Materials are something Wildebeest takes seriously: they experiment with different material properties to enhance the functionality and look of a product while being environmentally conscious. 100% of Wildebeest's products are proudly made in the San Francisco Bay Area and they're part of SFMade, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build and support a vibrant, diverse local manufacturing sector. Wildebeest works closely with their manufacturing partners to ensure exceptional quality and efficient production. This sustainable process not only allows Wildebeest to be eco-friendly, but also helps revive the SF local economy.

The Dandy Dogwalker is proud to use Wildebeest as our official treat pouches. Their functionality, durability, practicality, and aesthetic are beyond measure; Hadley has been using Wildebeest treat pouches since 2015 (once they put on their first Wildebeest treat pouch, Hadley literally has barely taken it off!). To check out the pouches Wildebeest has to offer - which we tested, helped consult on, and are so excited about what Jane came up with as she's truly brilliant! - please check out the Wildebeest website! (Be sure to look for a photo of our friend Elijah, giving a Working Walk pack some much-earned treats)!
